Lonnie Zamora worked as a sergeant at the Socorro Police Department. Friday 24 April 1964 he witnessed the Socorro landing in New Mexico. The investigation of the Socorro case was lead by Dr J. Allen Hynek with the FBI. The report on the case ended up in the Project Blue Book saying: "There is no doubt that Lonnie Zamora saw an object which left quite an impression on him. There is also no question about Zamora's reliability. He is a serious officer, a pillar of his church, and a man well versed in recognising airborne vehicles in his area. He is puzzled by what he saw, and frankly, so are we. This is the best documented case on record." Dr J. Allen Hynek The experience of Lonnie Zamora on April 24, 1964 stands as one of the most profound ufo events in the modern history of the phenomena. To this day it remains a case in which all the facts involved support the witnesses claims and it is this kind of case that makes the ufo phenomenon such an enduring mystery.
Lonnie Zamora saw a highly unusual device of unknown origin, what can only be described as a "craft" of some kind, and he reported seeing what he believes were occupants. Despite the controversy which often surrounds the subject of UFOs, the incident at Socorro remains an example of what the UFO phenomenon is, in fact, all about. Most people who have more than just a passing interest in UFOs are familiar with the Zamora incident which was alleged to have occurred just outside of Socorro, NM on April 24, 1964. It is a highly esteemed case except for/ to the most hardcore debunkers, mostly because of the credibilty of officer Zamora and the fact that indentations were found in the extremely hard ground and some bushes were burned. J. Allen Hynek remarked, " ...I personally am willing today to accept his testimony as genuine.." Anyway, Zamora reported seeing two, small aliens standing beside a metallic, white, egg-shaped object minutes before it blasted off. Not too many people know, however, that earlier the same day, Gary T. Wilcox reported practically the same event on his farm near Tioga City, NY. He too claimed to have seen two small beings near a metallic, egg-shaped object in a field surrounded by woods. This case was given less credibilty at the time because of one key difference: Gary claimed to have talked to "his" two little aliens. Source: UFO Folklore Wiki: Lonnie Zamora
