The anniversary date of the Phoenix UFO sighting is also the anniversary date for my Alien Casebook Frontier Blog, which is one year old today. I want to thank everyone for visiting this blog and so frequently.
The following Phoenix post was my very first blog post a year ago today so I found it fitting to repost it in here for this years anniversary. Again, I say thanks!

OR WAS IT MAYBE A MESSAGE FOR US FROM PHOENIX?
What I have done here, while not wanting to simply present the all too familiar Phoenix sightings, was to cater to your every whim with a handful of my own musings, since I am notorious for such. My plan is to go in a few directions with this article. I hope to appease those with an interest in UFOs, aliens, space, mythology, metaphors, symbolism and even prophecy. I am doing this simply because in some sense, all things are encumbered when talking about aliens and their antics throughout man’s history.
Flares? This is quite possible as seen in the following YouTube. However, from what we’ve gathered over the years in regard to aliens in our airspace, isn’t it just like the aliens to use stealth in what it is they do. Remember how they stuck their neck out at Chicago's O’ Hare International Airport amongst the clouds only long enough to be seen by many but not long enough for a photograph.
Perhaps they knew about the military flares that were going to be dropped and took advantage of such by simply appearing a couple of hours earlier. Or did the military find aliens in our airspace and went out and dropped flares to throw a different light on the sighting.
For some reason, the aliens wanted to put on a big show, a very big show while virtually flying low in U.S. airspace over Phoenix.
Steve Lantz, Co-Producer of The Phoenix Lights Documentary stated: "Flares were dropped intentionally at a high altitude over the Barry Goldwater Range at around 10 p.m. so that they could be seen and photographed by Phoenix residents. Then later, the military claimed that what everyone saw were just flares. After all, the flare theory is a nice convenient way to explain away the Phoenix Lights and continue the ET cover up that has been ongoing since WW2. Residents living close to Luke Air Force Base reported that several groups of fighters took off from the base during the mass sighting, yet the military still denies any unusual activity."
First, let's look at the video that hadn't surfaced until more recently. You need to slide to the 6:50 min mark where this video begins with an eye witness and his original video so read on and let it play or slide it forward.
Flares are simply a flame that burns for a short period of time
and then is extinguished.
They are fire.
Also, Steve Lantz states: "I have personally spoken to dozens of witnesses, including pilots, active military personnel and many other credible witnesses, and they all consistently report that what they saw was a massive v-shaped craft flying over the city, low and slow and completely silent, not distant lights over the Barry Goldwater Range. In fact, several witnesses I spoke to reported that they were directly underneath the craft as it flew over, very close to the housetops. The majority of reports flooded in around 8:30p.m., which does not coincide with the 10 p.m. flare drop.
Consider the fact that the Barry Goldwater Range has been in continuous operation since 1941. Countless flares have been dropped over the range over a 56 year period (as of 1997). What would prompt thousands of people to suddenly call into local newspapers, police stations, news stations, radio stations and Luke Air Force base, all on the same night and all around the same time? It is plainly obvious that many people saw something very strange, not something as mundane and routine as a distant flare drop, and felt compelled to report it and find out what it was.
Nobody can conclusively rule out the possibility of ET craft flying over Phoenix, let alone the rest of the world that have reported seeing similar triangular craft."
EARLIER IN THE EVENING BEFORE THE LIGHTS
At about 18:55 PST, (19:55 MST), a man reported seeing a V-shaped object above Henderson, Nevada. He said it was about the size of a (Boeing) 747, sounded like rushing wind and had six lights on its leading edge. The lights reportedly traversed northwest to the southeast. The distance between Henderson, Nevada and Phoenix, Arizona is 278 miles.
An unidentified former police officer from Paulden, Arizona is claimed to have been the next person to report a sighting after leaving his house at about 20:15 MST. As he was driving north, he reputedly saw a cluster of reddish or orange lights in the sky, comprising four lights together and a fifth light trailing them. Each of the individual lights in the formation appeared to the witness to consist of two separate point sources of orange light. He returned home and through binoculars watched the lights until they disappeared south over the horizon. The distance between Paulden, Arizona and Phoenix, Arizona is 123 miles.
Lights were also reportedly seen in the areas of Prescott and Prescott Valley. At approximately 20:17 p.m. MST, callers began reporting the object was definitely solid because it blocked out much of the starry sky as it passed over.
One observer was standing outside with his wife and sons in Prescott Valley, when they noticed a cluster of lights to the west-northwest of their position. The lights formed a triangular pattern, but all of them appeared to be red, with the exception of the light at the nose of the object, which was distinctly white. The object, or objects, which had been observed for approximately 2-3 minutes with binoculars, then passed directly overhead the observers, they were seen to "bank to the right", and they then disappeared in the night sky to the southeast of Prescott Valley. The distance between Prescott, Arizona and Phoenix, Arizona is 100 miles.
A UFO sighting report for Prescott, Arizona came into the National UFO Reporting Center and stated the following.
"While doing astrophotography I observed five yellow-white lights in a "V" formation moving slowly from the northwest, across the sky to the northeast, then turn almost due south and continue until out of sight. The point of the "V" was in the direction of movement. The first three lights were in a fairly tight "V" while two of the lights were further back along the lines of the "V"'s legs. During the NW-NE transit one of the trailing lights moved up and joined the three and then dropped back to the trailing position. I estimated the three light "V" to cover about 0.5 degrees of sky and the whole group of five lights to cover about 1 degree of sky."
When the triangular formation entered the Phoenix area, Mitch Stanley, an amateur astronomer, observed the lights using a Dobsonian telescope outfitted with a TELEVUE 32mm Plossl eyepiece, which produces 43 x magnifications. After observing the lights, he told his mother, who was present at the time, that the lights were aircraft.
In addition to the triangular formation, a separate phenomenon occurred in the Phoenix area. A series of lights appeared, one by one, and then were extinguished one by one. At this point many widely publicized videos and photographs were taken.
Bill Greiner, a cement driver hauling a load down a mountain north of Phoenix, described the second group of lights: "I'll never be the same. Before this, if anybody had told me they saw a UFO, I would've said, 'Yeah, and I believe in the tooth fairy'. Now I've got a whole new view. I may be just a dumb truck driver, but I've seen something that don't belong here."
—Bill Greiner
After leaving Phoenix, the lights moved southeast toward Tucson, following Interstate 10 at slow speed. Reports during this period had the lights as being amber in color. A driver on the Interstate noted that a large object hovered over the car, which was moving at about 65 miles per hour.
The object was next reported over Oracle. Here, it was described as having a reddish-orange color. Witnesses claimed that the object split up and each of the bright lights started moving in a separate direction along the edges of Tucson. Tucson is 113 miles from Phoenix and Oracle is 7 miles from Tucson.
Another report came from a young man in the Kingston area who stopped his car at a pay phone to report the incident. "The young man, en route to Los Angeles, called from a phone booth to report having seen a large and bizarre cluster of lights moving slowly in the northern sky".
The lights were viewed shortly after 11pm MST by at least one person in Yuma, about 180 miles southwest of Phoenix. The lights were described as being bright white and in a perfect "V" formation slowly heading southeast.
AND WHY AN ASSOCIATION WITH THE SUN?
the Phoenix shrivels to the size of an egg and then reemerges.
PHOENIX: A universal symbol of the sun, rebirth, resurrection and immortality. Linked to the worship of the fiery sun and sun gods such as Mexico's Quetzalcoatl. As well, the Phoenix is regarded as a divine bird in Egypt as it is related to Ra the Sun God. To others, it symbolizes the soul rising from the ashes of the physical body.
Despised, and though extinguished quite,
With inward eyes, illuminated
His fiery virtue roused
From under ashes into sudden flame,
And, as an evening dragon came,
Assailant to the perched roosts
And nests in order ranged
Of tame villatic fowl; but as an eagle
His cloudless thunder bolted on their heads.
So Virtue, given for lost,
Depressed and overthrown, as seemed,
Like that self-begotten bird,
in the Arabian woods embost,
That no second knows nor third,
And lay erewhile a holocaust
From out her ashy womb now teemed,
Revives, reflourishes, then vigorous most
When most unactive deemed;
And, though her body die, her fame survives,
a secular bird, ages of lives.
~ Milton
Here, the word ‘secular’ derives from the Latin saecula,
which means living through the centuries.
Could the Phoenix, the elusive sacred bird spoken of in Arabia, Egypt, Russia, Japan, Persia, China and Rome actually be a UFO or maybe an alien? Did the writers and scribes from the Phoenix era know not to speak of such and instead used symbolism and metaphors to hide the true nature of this bird's existence from those who would exist in the future?
Throughout the various cultures who speak highly of the Firebird and the Phoenix, only 'one' Phoenix exists at any given time. As well, the Phoenix felt its death was near every 600 to 12,994 years depending on the specific culture. Do we 'not' already suspect that the aliens are here in certain time frames based on suspicious evidence and then no signs are found of their presence on earth in other times?
GENE RODDENBERRY SITS HIGH UPON HIS ROOST
Occasionally we talk about how proof of aliens are put in our midst in the form of movies, books and UFO sightings as an attempt to condition us albeit, ready us for their acquaintance. All appearances of a great degree of synchronicity is witnessed in the work of screen writers and authors. Oddly enough, believers of UFOs and aliens were some of the more famous individuals that conditioned us. One such was Gene Roddenberry who gave the name 'Phoenix' to the first man-made spacecraft to travel faster than the speed of light in Star Trek. Do we 'not' suspect that the aliens are capable of traveling faster than light?
The Japanese Phoenix, the Ho-Oo, came to the earth to do good deeds for people. The Ho is the male Phoenix, the Oo, the female.
In Persia, the Phoenix resides in the Tree of Knowledge that is laden with seeds from all the plants in the world.
The Phoenix has alternatively been called the bird of the sun, of second birth, of Assyria, of Arabia, of the Ganges, the long-lived bird and the Egyptian bird.
Herodotus documented that the Phoenix came to Egypt from Arabia with the body of the parent bird plastered over in a ball of myrrh. The Phoenix buried the ball at the temple of the sun at Heliopolis. In Egyptian mythology, the bird Phoenix (fenix) represented the Sun, that dies at night and appears again in the morning. In Egyptian mythology, the Phoenix (benu) played an important role. During the flood of the Nile, this beautiful, bluish bird rests on high places and resembles the sun floating over the waters. Therefore this bird, sometimes called 'the ascending one', was associated with the sun god Ra, whose soul it was thought to be. The benu was especially venerated in the town that is usually called Heliopolis 'city of the Sun'. In another myth, the Phoenix was associated with the god Osiris, who had once renewed itself.
The Chinese Phoenix, the fĂȘng-huang, originated in the sun and is a mysterious and beautiful bird and the City of Phoenix Arizona has a history that is similar to the mythological bird which bears the same name. Phoenix rose from the ruins of an Ancient Native American Village and became one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States.
SEARCHING STAR SYSTEMS
To alchemists, the Phoenix symbolized the destruction and creation of new forms of matter along the way to the ultimate goal: the philosopher's stone. The Phoenix rose everyday at sunrise and spread its wings in front of the sun to protect man from the harmful rays but allow the beneficial ones to get through.
In May 2008, Our own Phoenix is expected to land in an unexplored north polar region of Mars that is rich in water-ice. Although Phoenix cannot move, it can deploy its cameras, robotic arm, and a small chemistry laboratory to inspect, dig, and chemically analyze its landing area. One hope is that Phoenix will be able to discern telling clues to the history of ice and water on Mars. Phoenix is also poised to explore the boundary between ice and soil in hopes of finding clues of a habitable zone there that could support microbial life. Phoenix has a planned lifetime of three months on the Martian surface.
Perfect Early Morning Liftoff for Phoenix
Sitting atop a Delta II rocket, the Phoenix spacecraft experienced a successful early-morning liftoff for the beginning of its journey toward Mars. After a flawless countdown with perfect weather conditions, the rocket roared to life as it lit up the dark morning sky.
RESEMBLING THE PHOENIX?
The Delta II rocket with the Phoenix spacecraft on board lifts off
Throughout history, the Phoenix could not live its full lifespan, yet it never failed to rise from its ashes to chant the story of a living nation.
This simulation is also a delta and one like it was seen in Phoenix on March 13, 1997
and rebuilt their homeland in a manner even more magnificent than it used to be,
while the invaders left, no matter how long they captured the land for.
The Phoenix kept flying over with fiery and golden feather,
spending its life narrating the greatness of the land
and its people with its glamorous voice.
Primarily associated with life, transformation, rebirth, renewal, hope, perseverance and immortality, it is said that when the Phoenix comes regularly, it is when his father dies. Who is the father of the Phoenix?
Okay, so maybe it's a little out in left field,
but who's to say?
