I saw these...there were three...we had walked out onto the Venice Pier around 10:45ish...I thought they appeared to travel up the coast in a weird way (up down, backwards, forwards, etc..)and then they were gone...earlier my friend had heard they were on Brooks while he was talking to him on his cell phone..."He had said".."I gotta go, I'm watching the UFO's on Brooks".
I believe in UFO's, however, I think with all the lasers they have now this may have been created. I really don't know...it was fun to watch and I am glad someone got some footage...I was wondering if anyone did...thank you so much for posting!!
I know what you mean. Years ago (1980 or 81) I had a friend who worked for IBM and they had just designed a laser. One of the designers was my neighbor. We would stand upstairs on his deck and shine the laser about a block or so. We saw someone come out of their home and go to the garage. We put the laser on the garage and of course all they see is a big red dot moving around on the garage door. lol
It drove him nuts. This was years before lasers were used by everyone. Nobody had them so he didn't have a clue.
After driving him nuts we watched a cat chase the dot on the ground in circles without stopping. I think we stopped first from laughing so hard.
That was in Huntington Beach.
I miss Venice, actually I miss Santa Monica more. I moved to Corpus Christi, Texas so I could afford that same off-shore breeze and no smog. Well, I got that but you can have the rest. I hate this city.
Would love to move back to Calif.
Myself and my boyfriend saw these too. I was right underneath them while driving on Main St from Santa Monica through Venice. Definitely very strange. They were flying around for about an hour. I'd never seen anything like them before!
We also saw the dancing lights over venice. Watched them in awe for over a half hour. They felt oddly natural but were blowing our minds at the same time. Rumor had it that there was a movie filming in the area and they were serious special effects remote control things....but we inspected the set later in the eve and they weren't that. not fake spaceships on that set. so the whole experience will be another one of those inexplicables I guess. wondered why the news didnt get a hold of it cause it was crazy.
i saw these also - and i met somebody who had just spoken with the people flying them.
some of the coasties at the coast guard station there got their hands on remote controlled flying saucers. they are ~ 4' in diameter. they were flying them around having a good time spooking people.
adam sandler's upcoming movie 'funny guys' was being filmed over by windward, but had nothing to do with these
That makes sense. I've seen small RC flying saucers but they still make noise. Did anyone hear anything or were the ones that sighted them too far to hear whatever noise was being produced.
