PALO ALTO, California (Reuters) – Bigfoot remains as elusive as ever.
Results from tests on genetic material from alleged remains of one of the mythical half-ape and half-human creatures, made public at a news conference on Friday held after the claimed discovery swept the Internet, failed to prove its existence.
Its spread was fueled by a photograph of a hairy heap, bearing a close resemblance to a shaggy full-body gorilla costume, stuffed into a container resembling a refrigerator.
One of the two samples of DNA said to prove the existence of the Bigfoot came from a human and the other was 96 percent from an opossum, according to Curt Nelson, a scientist at the University of Minnesota who performed the DNA analysis.
Bigfoot creatures are said to live in the forests of the U.S. Pacific Northwest. An opossum is a marsupial about the size of a house cat.
Results of the DNA tests were revealed in an e-mail from Nelson and distributed at the Palo Alto, California, news conference held by Tom Biscardi, host of a weekly online radio show about the Bigfoot.
Also present were Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, the two who say they discovered the Bigfoot corpse while hiking in the woods of northern Georgia. They also are co-owners of a company that offers Bigfoot merchandise.
Despite the dubious photo and the commercial interests of the alleged discoverers, the Bigfoot claim drew interest from Australia to Europe and even the New York Times.
Biscardi said the DNA samples may not have been taken correctly and may have been contaminated, and that he would proceed with an autopsy of the alleged Bigfoot remains, currently in a freezer at an undisclosed location.

I have a problem with the comment on the video where they state, "some man shot bigfoot with a 30-06 and the man was a parolee and they're trying to find him."
At 2 minutes, 56 seconds in this YouTube video below, they flash the text, "Having to buy a tow truck $38000". Um, is this yet another lie?!? If not, why pay $38000 for a tow truck when you have one for sale on Craig’s List for $8000.00?!?

Its distinctive peripheral protrusions, like notches on a gear, were its primary identifying feature to me.It was dull gray (my wife noticed orange/rust) with an undulating movement.It traveled low under the cloud ceiling.
We laughed and moved closer to the windows and I told my wife to try for a phone camera shot but she couldn't manage it in time.Another lady asked "what in the world is such a big flying hubcap doing out there".Others looked and turned their heads in disbelief,
Prior to the sighting there was very little aircraft activity in this wing of O'Hare.There was a burst of aircraft activity after the object departed and a large storm moved in at 7:30 pm.An aircraft appeared to be disabled during the 7:00-8:00 pm period.Tornado warnings and high winds followed and passengers took shelter in the tunnels of O'Hare.We finally departed on AA 1058 to Orlando from Gate K-15 at about midnight.

HOW TO BUILD A PHONE TO THE DEAD By Joseph Capp As many of you know I am a writer for the UFO cause but I love the paranormal especially to, especially ghost hunting. Most of my scientific friends believe that there is something to it and I agree.
When I read about “Franks Phone to the Dead” I was intrigued so we got the specifications and gave them to another who was supposed to build a phone for us as well as himself to use on ghost investigations. While we were waiting, I came across the UFO Geek where this gracious person took time out to show us how to build a very affordable “Franks Phone to the Dead”
Building the phone is simply done by modifying a Radio Shack Digital AM/FM Pocket Radio, which only costs $25.00
It was rather easy to do by just unscrewing the case and (clipping the “Mute” pin). What you do next is press and hold for the button for just a second until it starts sweeping and then you let go. It will continually sweep the band, whichever band you’re on. You can also use it as a radio by not holding down this key and instead pressing it quickly to the next station. With this method I could be walking in a hot spot and ask questions right into recorder and listen for the answer. Then listen also later. I really like the UFO Geek website. He doesn’t like the over commercialization and how people are charging us an arm and leg in order to demonstrate these products so Frank wanted it out there on the web for everyone, according to the story. So if I can help this is the way I’ll help.
By the way, I did get one hit while briefly using it. I have recorded but I don’t want to put it out there because of the “want to believe factor” always present in any testing things of this nature.

On August 27, 2008, The Discovery Channel will air a new episode of Mythbusters entitled “NASA Moon Landing”. This episode was created to challenge the wild but persistent urban legend that NASA never really landed humans on the moon in the 1960s and 70s.
MythBusters is an American pop science television program on the Discovery Channel. It stars special effects experts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, who use their expertise to test the validity of various rumors and urban legends.
Hyneman and Savage often use their extensive engineering and construction expertise to construct complex devices with which to perform experiments. The tests are usually a two-step process. First, an attempt is made to recreate the myth to determine if the circumstances, as described, achieve the alleged outcome. If that fails, they attempt to expand the parameters as much as necessary - often to absurd lengths - until the desired results are duplicated. There are some myths and urban legends the MythBusters refuse to test. Paranormal concepts, such as aliens or ghosts, are not addressed because they cannot be tested by scientific methods. The program also avoids experiments that cannot be tested safely, such as whether a wet poodle could be dried in a microwave oven.
This special episode was first announced on NASA TV in February of 2008. To film the episode, Adam, Jamie, and the rest of the Mythbusters cast chose to visit the Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama. A team of Marshall scientists helped the Mythbusters with several of their tests.
Proponents of the Apollo Moon Landing hoax conspiracy theories insist that NASA and the US Government intentionally deceived the public by fabricating the manned moon landings. Although exact details from the episode are mum, NASA has reported that the Mythbusters’ tests included a feather, a weight, a lunar soil boot print, and a flag in a vacuum.
Apollo moon landing hoax debunkers point out that in the first instance, the moon walks happened during the lunar day and therefore the stars were obscured by the sun's light. In the second instance the American flag that was raised on each of the Apollo landing sites were stiffened by wires, which caused the seeming "swaying in the breeze effect."
Also, the Japanese lunar orbit probe Kaguya recently imaged the burn marks of the Apollo 15 lunar module descent engine at the Apollo 15 landing site. Special effects artists who worked on films like Apollo 13 and TV series like From Earth to the Moon have suggested that the technology just wasn't available to fake the moon landings in the 1960s.
The whole idea of an Apollo moon landing hoax is just an insult to the men and women who made the moon landings possible. People, like the crew of Apollo1, died to make the moon landings happen. Others, engineers and scientists whose names will never be known, sacrificed long hours and suffered ruined marriages and wrecked health so that men could walk on the Moon. The idea that it was all faked seems like a way to try to cheapen all that work and sacrifice.
It is doubtful that despite this debunking or what the Mythbusters team concludes that Apollo moon landing hoax conspiracy theorists will be swayed. Conspiracy theories are not generally about evidence, but rather the desire for fame and the paranoid style of history, to paraphrase Richard Hofstadter.

I would like to add that I doubt any moon hoaxer was old enough or even born when we landed and walked on the moon. Had they been of age, they would have known that the moon walk was not hoaxed. The event was just too grand.
A small group observed what appeared to be a spinning gray or metallic disc shaped object over Hoboken NJ around 8pm on the night of August 9th, 2008. The disc was centered in a dark cloud. Some people said they saw red lights. It sat there for about 10 minutes and appeared to move East and then North over the Hudson River (see video part 2). My camera could only zoom in so much. We weren't sure what it was but it was quite strange.
