MUFON'S National Director James Carrion Resigns

In an email to state section Directors, International Director of the Mutual UFO Network, James Carrion has resigned his position effective March 13. 2010. Carrion will assume the newly-created position of Business Manager for MUFON and will be replaced by Clifford Clift.



Carrion's statement to the local directors read in part:
"Effective March 1st, 2010, I am relinquishing my position as MUFON International Director to take on a different position within the organization. The reasons for my relinquishing the position are many but the overlying issue is that I simply no longer have the time to dedicate to the job. As a member of the 'sandwich generation': a single parent of a young child who must also deal with aging parents, my time has become very limited. In addition, I still actively manage a separate for-profit company which further limits my time. Finally, I am also doing time-consuming independent UFO research that focuses on the role of Government in the UFO field - a gold mind of information yet to be adequately explored.

It may come as a surprise to you, but my transitioning out of the International Director role has been two years in the making. In 2006, I committed to a three year term as the International Director until 2009, but when no suitable candidate was found, I agreed to stay on for one more year. In 2008, the MUFON Board of Directors approved the role of a MUFON Business Manager to separate the duties of leadership from those of running MUFON's nonprofit business operations. I gave the board notice in December 2009, but I offered to stay on until the 2010 Symposium in July so a suitable candidate could be found. Fortunately, a candidate search was not necessary as one of the existing MUFON Board members offered to become the new International Director and was unanimously voted into office. I will be occupying the role of MUFON Business Manager which will be far less demanding of my time.

I am proud to announce that the new MUFON International Director is my long term good friend and colleague, Clifford Clift. Clifford will be featured in the MUFON Journal so that the MUFON membership can become acquainted with him and his professional background. I am completely confident that Clifford is the best man for the job and I know that MUFON could not be in better hands.

It has been my pleasure to serve MUFON as the International Director these last three years and I know that going forward, MUFON will still be on the cutting edge of UFO investigation."

No immediate changes in the operation of the four decade old UFO investigation organization are anticipated.

I have been looking for this particular version of UFOs Over Earth in Mexico for a very long time. We've had the Bucks County and Fayetteville versions for quite a while but this one hadn't hit YouTube yet. Of the three UFOs Over Earth created, I find this one to be most interesting. I say this due to the depth they went to in order to eventually debunk a very popular UFO in Mexico that Jaime Maussan was a part of. You'll love the end result. James Carrion from MUFON and company traveled to Mexico to take a looksee. I visualized James Carrion tearing his hair out after dealing with Jaime and that particular hoax in the show. I by no means make a point of debunking anything but when it's proof positive, I'll always point it out. Jaime Maussan can't say those words and mean it.

John Schuessler has been involved in the US manned space program since 1962 and a UFO researcher since 1965. He is a founding member of the Mutual UFO Network, Inc. (MUFON), is presently the Deputy Director for Administration, a consultant in Astronautics, and a member of the MUFON Board of Directors. As a staff member he has written numerous articles for Skylook and the MUFON UFO Journal. He administers the MUFON Medical Committee, composed of consultants with medical degrees. He is a member of the UFO Research Coalition Board of Directors, a member of the Science Advisory Board for the National Institute for Discovery Science and an Associate of the J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies.John retired from the aerospace industry, where he was involved in the engineering side of most of the US manned space programs. His primary field of interest is the technology of the future. He holds a M.S. degree in Studies of the Future, Technology Forecasting from the University of Houston, Clear Lake.

James began his lifelong interest with the UFO phenomenon at the age of 11 when he began his own UFO news clipping collection. As a young boy, James lived in Puerto Rico at a time when the island was a hotbed of UFO activity and he later researched the Chupacabra and Laguna Cartagena sightings. James served for four years as a U.S. Army Russian Linguist in the Military Intelligence Corps and became fascinated with the story of the Gulf Breeze six, a group of young Military Intelligence soldiers that went AWOL from their base in Augsburg, Germany to search for UFOs in Gulf Breeze.Upon moving to Colorado in 1996, James joined the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) and worked as the state section director for both North Eastern and North Western Colorado. James proposed and implemented MUFON’s Pandora Project, the electronic archiving of all MUFON’s UFO case files and served on the MUFON International Business Board for three years before being elected as the MUFON International Director in 2006. James holds a Bachelors of Arts in Russian Language and a Masters of Arts in International Affairs, both from Florida State University. James is also the CEO of a national computer training company and is widely recognized as a computer expert. James currently lives in Bellvue, Colorado with his wife Lisa and son Aidan.
